A $100 unit such as that is VERY likely a Chinese unit!

They are unreliable and NOT worth what you pay!

Trimble and others sell completely self contained units with an accurate
10MHZ output.

You WILL spend a fair bit more!  You get closer to $200 for them.

You will only get what you pay for!

The GPS signal is OVER 1 GHZ!  Something like 1.15GHZ.  The antenna is
BEST an active one with amplification.

That antenna can either be located outside or "maybe" in an attic.

I did look up the GPS receivers that have a 10Mhz and 1PPS output, and 100 bucks on Epay gets you a nice one with GPS ant and walwart. Another site had comments on this unit, and looks pretty good, but one fellow said the 10Mhz output is not exactly 10. I can't remember the number he had, but I do remember that he said that works out to a 2Hz error at 100GHz....yes giga. Guess that is close enough, but don't think you get ionosphere reports from it. I am not into all the details and maybe I misread but one commentor said it actually gets a GPS locked reference 10KC signal and multiplies it 1000 times to 10Mhz, and the signal, while a sinewave, does have some jitter issues. Maybe someone with indepth knowledge can point out a few things to be wary of.
