My buddies on our Sunday net were commenting on a story I wrote that was apparently printed in the June ER mag. I haven't got mine yet, so didn't know about it. It is the one I wrote several years ago about ham radio history and going to a hamfest looking at stuff. I actually wrote this with the modern ham in mind that seem to be missing radio and ham history knowledge, something the majority of ER readers really didn't need. I submitted it to QST but got a rejection letter that said, "Not of interest to our current readership..." Heck, I though it would help some of those folks, oh well. So, sent it along to ER, guess they needed a bit more to round out the mag for June.

I have been looking at a Hallicrafters SX130 on line that seems worthy of fixing up, but, the original Halli ad, the write ups on the internet, all say it is a BC band to 30MC receiver. The front panel slide rule dial has 80-10 meters with a little overage past the band edges, but no BC band. I don't think the little bit of overage past the band edges really qualifies it for general coverage, the ad does say, "The popular SW bands...", but is missing most of the really active SW bands. If you have one of these, where is the BC band on the dial?
