Hi All
Meters like the Simpson 260 come in handy especially for voltage when you're not quite sure on what a DVM is telling you because it's dithering up and down between in a random manner because of the rate at which they sample and digitize the parameter under measurement. They almost give you a picture of what you're measuring is actually doing.
Yes DVM's are very handy, and you don't have to multiply by R times 1 or 10 or whatever or zero the meter before you take a reading. And now days you don't have to even worry about what range you're on. Even a no code tech can do it!!!!
But I've hauled one around for years in addition to my $300+ DVM. They can let you be sure of what you're REALLY seeing in critical situations when a few tenths of a volt matters.
