Mine was received with 2 extra holes in it also, somebody intended to install meters I guess. The inside of the cabinet was black with soot, and 5 sets of contacts were badly burned, missing parts. Luckily, the rotor contact part of the band switch was untouched. I replaced the 10 doubled up contacts with ones from a junk switch, drilling out the rivets and using #80 hardware to reattach the replacements. My TX side tuning seems to handle 80 and 40 just fine, it is just that it takes the output matching cap to be set to 95 t0 100, which sets C2A and D at max capacity, and C2B and C, the one with the grounded stator at minimum, as if there is not enough capacity to couple properly. Not sure if adding that extra switch and cap to tune the input link would solve this problem, it might drop the input SWR to 1:1, but I bet the matching dial would still be on 95-100 I did clean the switch as one fellow suggested, and probed the contacts with a stick with it hot to see if it changed tuning by tensioning the contacts, but was stable. Tried it with a 400 ohm resistor load and it nulled it out fine, so maybe it is a feedline/ant length issue. Back in 'ye olde days' of the small ARRL Antenna book, it had a chart with feedline lengths to avoid and I did follow that guideline, but maybe something has changed and I need to check connections and conditions. Thanks for the input fellers.
Charlie
