Completely agree. Many think hi-fi means ridiculously boosted bass.
Mostly a slopbucket practice fortunately. But a few are found on AM.
Real hi-fi = natural sounding. Not booming bass but not space shuttle
audio either.

An unmodified and properly working Heathkit 'Scratchy' Apache, along with others of that vintage, are Q5 copy when the signal is S3, but improved audio versions, most of the time sound like the op is speaking from the bottom of a mud hole and are unreadable. At 20 over it may sound like the VOA, but not so at real world sig levels.
