Commenting on the difference in a Class H and PWM modulator... the whole conversation was only possible, because it CENTERED around... AM.... along with discussing other AM conversations I either listened to or was involved in.

You're not, Geoff, IMHO. Especially since you and I had originally met
many years ago right on this list. Had it not been for this list, our
visit last weekend would not have occurred. The problem, as I read it,
occurred when the thread drifted off-topic to (only) climate and
critters. I wasn't bothered by that, but that's just me.

You had neglected to include in the above Fun with Tesla Coils, which is
on-topic because the RF produced and radiated is amplitude-modulated,
whether by 120 Hz (in the 833-excited coil, powered by an unfiltered
full-wave rectifier) or by a very complex and somewhat random function
as in the spark-excited coil. Unmodulated Tesla coils, like unmodulated
carriers, are rather boring ;-)

We did have fun, didn't we?

Minor correction to the above - My PDM AM rig's RF PA operates in class
"C" (which sounds like class "E" when spoken).

Another guy I had originally met via this list was Jim WD5JKO, who paid
me a visit last August. So now I've had eyeball QSOs at my Maine QTH
from two friends I had made right here. Who's next?
