Yes, in one ear and out the other. The 500 in the shack is for AM!!!!!! Took
about two months, late 2004-2005, to get the HV turned on with no smoke. The
keyer circuit worked then as per the BAMA schematic/manual. Pattern looked
good enough for government work. Since then the CW position is only used for
tune-up.

If by "keyer" (to me a keyer is a CW key) you mean the time delay circuit on
the 500, I have been told it quits working over time because of some sort of
component deterioration.  I don't remember the details because I don't own
one and have no desire for one so it went in one ear and out the other, but
a 500 owner may be able to fill in the blanks.
