[AMRadio] HQ 180 problem

The gentleman that suggested checking the IF voltages at the tube bases
has identified a common problem. It also can't hurt to do some signal
tracing if you have a generator.
If you do have a problem internal to an IF transformer they can be
repaired with lots of patience and finesse. I repaired a can in a HQ-170
so it can be done. Another symptom of silver mica disease is random loud
static crashes without the antenna connected.

Also search YouTube for Hammarlund IF repair.
I would soon replace all electrolytic caps. There is room under the
chassis for modern types wired to a terminal strip. Leave the FP style
can on the chassis but disconnected.
