Hi Bob,
If you're hung-up on Hallicrafters, I'm sure you'll get a lot of respectable responses to your query...if not, I would recommend the Drake R-4 receiver: it's plentiful, cheap, has 1-KHz dial resolution, adjustable selectivity, and it's flexible in terms of frequency coverage with positions for extra crystals. Its only drawback is that you'll need an extra HC-6U crystal for 160-meters...
My next choice would be a Heathkit SB-301---but again, no Topband coverage, and the stock AM filter is too narrow for AM (you need to buy one---usually around $80.00, or so, on eBay---or make one yourself).
