I never had one so I can not be of much help, but...
Alignment issues show up as a not very sensitive receiver, poor pass band,
frequency on the dial off.
The switch sounds easy, as power on needs a connection, and a good one to
pass the power to light the tubes and dial lights.
Not a dead spot in the switch but some contacts shorting or touching when
they are not supposed to.
