I'd start out by just leaving it on for a couple of days and try your
test again. Always do the easy things first. I've had problems with
unused gear gradually go away by merely leaving them fired up for a
few days.
This may be a wives tale but with vintage gear, I try to run
everything for a few hours every few weeks even if I don't use it all.
I just turn everything on and leave it for a while. I even do it
with modern equipment. I've heard too many stories that begin with
something like, "I fired up my xyz after not using it for a year and
it went pffft and smoke came out."
