NO NO on the Rat Shack ones. I've found the (near) best replacements
when compared to the Astatic original is one from Mouser Electronics.
Almost the same size and in the crystal variety if memory serves me
correctly. Response charts bout the same also. Fellas help me out with
the Mouser info as I can't find mine presently for Bob. Bob, it's kinda
like, if your date says she's sick, shoot, ask her sister to go barn
dancing that Saturday night as she'll be close enough. Better that
giving up and having to end up watch the cows munch grass during the
afternoon and growing overnight. Hey, even in the best of ham radio
families the other members will never know. In addendum, Bob, in all my
years in ham radio I've never run across a ham who could tell how old my
D-104 crystal microphone element was in it's life cycle nor how many
actual crystals were housed in it case indicating mv output. Shoot most
of us in our well ham radio seasoned time line nearing end of the paper
roll can't even discern our birth given names when supper calls go out
indicating it's on the table getting cold. That's why supper bells on
the back or front porch (your bride's choice) that rang out CQ were
invented in the first place. <grin>
