Without tracing the wire inside the microphone, a quick way is to use and
passive ohm meter that uses a 1.5 volt battery (do not use higher voltage
ohm meters for this test) on the x1 or x10. When you connect it to the
shield and the proper wire you should hear a click coming from the D104
cartridge. Once when you connect and again when you disconnect. If the
microphone has push to talk you will probably need to lock the button down
for this test.

Subject: [AMRadio] D-104 wiring
I have a stock DX-40 with the center connector old style mic socket. I want
to properly wire a vintage D-104 mic (has NO amplifier circuit) . It has a
Red, White, Black and Blue wires and of course a shield. Can someone tell me
the proper wiring to the mic connector? Thanks and 73
