Brian,
Thanks for adding (those who are truly qualified) to your OO observation. I
have gotten two OO reports, in my 40 years. One was a good one, when I was
a Novice, telling of "key clicks" on my DX-35. That was very likely, as an
excited, nearly new Novice, unfamiliar with the rig, but the redeeming
quality was his comment "Get ur Elmer (not his word, I cannot remember what
he called it) to help. Oh, by the way, great fist!!". I thought that nice
of him, and sure enough, my rig needed a LOT of help and got it.

Second was a bad experience for me not too many years back. Long story
short, the guy was using the worst receiver on Rob Sherwood's list, a sound
card RTTY program, and no experience using it. I was just a strong signal,
with a 4 element quad aimed over his head with a few watts power, and simply
overloaded his sorry receiver and attic antenna. One should have SOME
expertise, proper monitoring equipment and antenna to monitor a mode. I
checked everything here, had friends all over the country monitor from
different spots, same result, what was reported was not there. So, sadly,
now we are often monitored by "dumbed down" monitors who cannot even run
their own equipment.
