[AMRadio] Can they 'really' know?

Hi, I am curious--what do you do with a pair of 813 to get twice the
current AM limit?

Twice would be around 600 w. carrier (basically the old power limit of
1000W dc input).

I know of pair 813 rigs modulated by a pair but they are ~ 300 maybe
350 watt rigs.

I think the problem with the FCC is that it is not big enough. Are
you aware of how its budget has been cut over the years--their
monitoring staff is way down, there are a handful of field agents
compared to years ago, which is why about all they can do is tend to
real problems like QRM to aviation radio--stuff that is life
threatening.

They have gotten out of all this stuff like giving the ham
examinations because they don't have the staff and budget for any of
that.

Some of the monitoring is even contracted out. In fact, the teeny cut
down government agency model you want is what you have now in the FCC
and see where we are with that.

Back when they had staffed monitoring stations all over the country
and lots of field agents that went out all the time busting CBers etc.
there were few problems compared to today. I would welcome Congress
throwing a big wad of money at the FCC, directing them to hire a load
of engineers and tell them to get cracking.

One thing they could do with a bigger budget is place inspectors at
ports and have them randomly test imported (and domestically made to
be sure) appliances for RF filtering and bar entry to anything not
meeting unintentional emitter emission requirements. Overnight all
the manufacturers would start adding little ferrite beads and bypass
caps to all their power supplies and the cost of each item would go up
by 5 cents at most.

None of this is happening because FCC is strangled to death by the
regulatory agency haters.
