That is kind of funny Rob.  What I mean is every FCC employee I have met 
seemed to be the same way and one day I asked one of them I knew why. 
He explained that not everyone could interpret his intent of  simply 
conversing without ascribing official actions from their words.

They also say as little as possible and want all official communications 
in writing so it can't be misunderstood.
I have know a couple who do get on the air and are a delight to talk to. 
One in particular was quite active on AM and is very knowledgeable about 
restoration.

You would never  know what he does for a living when you talked to him 
on the air.  Very nice guy.  It is sort of like when Ed Hare, W1RFI was 
posting to a board and he was thorough and kind but some people took it 
the wrong way and complained to League HQ.  It didn't take long for him 
to quit posting for many people misunderstood there is a difference in 
official and unofficial communications.
