Yes, I "could" just let her rip.
However, I simply do not.
There are many different personalities in this hobby. It is no
different than those that own Corvettes.
*Some* may just let her rip. Then there are those that just do not.
The Atlanta District Enforcement Officer for the FCC, Angelo Dundee,
used to drop in for coffee and a shoot the breeze session when he was in
the area. It didn't change the way I operated then, nor has the way I
operate now. They were simply friendly visits and acted neighborly and
friendly.
I ran AM with an HT-37/SX-101A setup. The HB grounded grid 813s were
for the SB-102/SP-600/HP-23 setup.
Different strokes, different folks.
Although I have known of a few that made a big deal of lighting off a
pair of 4-1000As, just to hear their signal come back around to the back
of the beam.
To what purpose? I personally do not know. It certainly wasn't to
communicate with anyone.
