Yep!  They build equipment with "designed" capabilities.

We then must work within them.

Pushing them beyond their design limits will, at some point, leave you 
with destroyed equipment.  Such as blown tubes, overheated power 
supplies, or even shorted transformers.

Keep an extinguisher handy if you want to push the limits!

Or you can do like AirBus is doing, and have to ground the entire A-380 
fleet to hunt for cracks in the wings.
