Over the years, 29.0 to 29.2 MHz has been touted as "AM Mode" on various
domestic and international band plans. Although you can operate AM
wherever your phone privileges allow you to operate, it seems silly to
perceive that you're going to make more AM contacts down around 28.5 MHz
because there's lots of SSB activity going on in the same frequency area.
Finding it difficult or inconvenient to tune all the way to 29.0 MHz
(Wow) also seems lame. If more amateurs would just belt out some CQ's and
make some noise in that 29.0 to 29.2 AM area, maybe there would be less
dead air to complain about.
