David is right.  A lot of hams (mostly SSB ops) run around buying up
all kinds of audio boxes to try to achieve that rich baratone
announcer voice.  They wind up sounding strange and creepy instead.  I
know, I got sucked into that once myself.  No audio gadget can give
you what your parents did not pass on to you.  Best thing a ham can do
is get voice training or coaching if he is really serious about
changing how he sounds.

Having posted that, audio boxes are not bad if you use them for what
they are designed for, like limiting negative peaks or smoothing a mic
response.   They just won't magically make a ham sound like James Earl
Jones if he doesn't already sound like him.
