I have had them all, and see no difference between them.
The v1 was a bit different with the coarse loading under the lid...
The one I still have has been running without fault for 30 years, and I
solid stated the supplies and even run it at higher voltage then the 700
volt tap and solid stating would run, as I have a variac on the plate
transformer.
Never lost a tube, or had any other problem with it, despite also using it
for an RF exciter for big rigs (rf source, hence the variac) where it stays
on all day.
The freq readout is 5kc off, has been for a long time, and its not worth it
to me to correct that.
Some of the best audio I ever heard on the air was a guy who ran a Sure 55s
into a stock 32V.
The combo of his voice and the mic was just right, sounded wonderful.
I do not remember his call, its been 15 years? but I think he was in
Pennsylvania and did block work for a living, anyone know him?
