Him Jim,

Do you do any fishing...? If not, do you have any friends that do...?

If so, simply tie a weight to the end of your spin-cast reel & rod combo, then fire away at the highest tree limb that you can. That's how I get all of my wire creations aloft, & it works swell...

A coupla tips:

---If you have a lot of underbrush where the weight may land, you'll have one heckuva time finding the end of it---so use an old buzzer assembly taped to a 9-volt battery as your weight. Works for me: it's the right weight, and it's EASY to find (just follow your ears);

---If you don't have any underbrush, then simply use a heavy enough weight that'll arc over a limb, then reach the ground;

---Once the weight & line are across your limb of choice, remove the weight, & tie a roll of el-cheapo polypropylene parcel twine to it...then reel the line back into the reel;

---Once the you have the polyprop line at the rod end, tie your permanent NYLON rope to it, and haul it over the limb pulling on the other side (i.e. where the polyprop spool is);

---"Streamline" your knot linking the temporary polyprop rope with the permanent nylon with a few turns of electrical tape---it'll be less prone to snag in the crotches of branches as it passes through your tree top, and finally,

---Use ONLY nylon rope for your permanent installation: polypropylene turns to dust after a coupla years' exposure to the UV rays of the sun.

There...my $0.02 worth!

Oh yes, one final thing to add here: HAPPY CASTING...!!!
