Is it one of those carolina windom jobs? If you can ever get a
center fed ladder line 1/2 w. dipole up to around 50 feet and fed with
a KW Matchbox, things will work out a little better I think. I
believe Bernie pretty much wrote the same thing. There is a
substantial reduction in loss to ground coupling between 35 feet and
50 feet on 75 meters. I made that height change and I think the gain
was around 10 dB in reduced loss. If you can put it up around 70 feet
there is at least another 10 dB improvement.
Make sure it is a flat top and not an inverted V. The average height
of an inverted V with the feedpoint at 50 feet will put you back in
the 35 foot range.
