Hi all,

Because of the recent incident of the SPAM, I thought I might take a
moment of your time. I want to welcome all new members of the groups
and tell you a bit about the piece of mail that slipped through the
cracks Normally that type of thing is caught at the mailman server, in
fact another one from the same gentleman was caught and referred to us
for delivery options. I did deny its transmission but the one that came
through did not get caught.

These things are the result of people mining the email addresses of your
web based mail programs like AOL, MSN, Google, Yahoo, etc. I don't know
how they do it but maybe someone would like to give a brief, layman's
description, but I do know that you should watch your address book
because they can pull all the addresses in your book and send all sorts
or stuff you don't want. I also know if you get the right stuff on your
computer from these people it can cause you to send messages to more
people than you intend.

Last week I received a message from a politician that I deleted then I
proceeded to read my other messages. I wanted to answer one and chose
the To field and CC field for multiple people. That political message
somehow managed to send messages to all people in my address book
between the first person I chose and the last. It sent it's message not
the one I had composed. I have never seen a message do that before.
After a thorough scan for all kinds of things, nothing turned up but one
little bug in the Trojan area. In fact my protection did not catch it
coming or going until I scanned and quarantined it.

So be careful and do as someone posted, change your password to
something very difficult. You can use a combination of letters, numbers
and capitals to fool the miners. Like Scott. Sc0tt1. The 0 is a zero
rather than an o as you normally find. Many programs require between 8
and 15 letters or combinations so just remember to write it where you
can find it and make those changes about every 3 months.

Now as to new members, Welcome. Please read the rules and remember we
have a good group who self moderate very well. In fact the moderators
and list owner rarely have to intercede. If you have questions about
the operation just refer to the rules and if you have a question about a
post before you make it, send one of us a message for clarification
before posting. The rules are at a site you will find referenced at the
bottom of each message. Just remember, no for sale, trade or wanted on
the AM Radio site.

Tnx & 73
