yep, and if you run the multiband verticle that " does not need radials" you
can run 10 kw. never heard of a mud duck either! It does seem strange that
hams spend $$$$$ then feed it to a poor antenna litle better than a dummy
load. Run a resonant coax or twin lead dipole for each band, may have
to tune for height effect on Z, a verticle over a propper radial field, at
least 60 1/4 wave radials, a center fed wire 1/2 wave at the lowest band
with open wire feeders to a real antenna matching device with parallel tuned
circuits, like the Johnson match box, Makes a great all band antenna, or a
Yagi. there are a few more but those are the main antennas and simply the
standards. Do not use the small coax unless it is a short run and on low
bands, even RG8 gets really poor on upper bands with any significient length

I run a 260 foot wire 40 feet high, open wire to Johnson KW match box and
1/4 wave 80 meter verticle surrounded by a 1/2 wave spaced 4 el verticle
phased array for 40 ( not a 4 square) There is nine miles of wire under the
verticles. 600 plus feet away fed with 3/4 inch hardline, 1 db loss.
