Snobbery has nothing to do with it.  Efficient operation is what I strive for and try to
impart that idea to others.
CB term?  It is.  (A lot of those ops already know that term, trust me.) I guess I  should
have used the term "p*ss-weaker"?

After 40 years as  a ham, I can't tell you how many times I've come across either  a new
ham or someone licensed only a few years, running a G5RV on 80. You know, the
"dipole-in-a-bag-complete-with coax-with-connectors"?   They invariably have to rely on
excellent propagation to get out.  And I can't tell you how many hams I have helped
improve their sigs on 80, by insisting they try a dipole, even a  short dipole, fed with
450 ohm line, instead of their G5RV dummy load.
