Fortunately the majority seem able to strike a good balance.In fact,
it amazes me the number of folks I hear and work on the air who
seldom, if ever, appear anywhere online. My work over the years has
had me stuck on a terminal/PC for hours on end which permits me to
check email and other stuff. FAR too much time really, but it was nice
to have the original 'fone, AMWindow, and the email groups to keep
touch with while I was off the air through part of the 90s and the
first part of this century. When the new version of 'fone was updated
in '03 and I joined back in, I credit the guys and activity on there
for getting me back on the air in the following year or so. One of the
better tools in the toolbox, just not a substitute for actual
operating.
Not sure which is more annoying, the spambots or trying to work with
the software used on 'fone. It looks purty, but it's not terribly
user-friendly or flexible. Pay no attention to the learning curve
involved. (o:
