My oldest daughter grew up wanting to be a teacher. She'd line up her dolls on
the bed and pretend to be one. She then graduated from UNT as an education
major, got out she found out what a cluster....  the public schools are and went
back got a business degree. Unfortunately she went to work for a mortgage
company so you can imagine where that ended up. She's now back in school working
on a nursing degree....hopefully she will find that to be stable. But I can you
that she was real disappointed about the state of lowered education.

My son is in the Navy (SOCOM) and I have repeatedly told him to stay in where he
at least has a job and my youngest daughter is working on a Criminal
Justice degree and wants to be a cop. At least those fields are not as fubar as
the educrats have made the public schools, and I'm real proud of them for taking
those paths in life.

Jim has hit the nail squarely on the head!

I saw this back in the first half of the '70s in the Military, at first.

The average reading level of the Enlisted members were THEN reading at
the 6th grade level.

I worked at the Pentagon in the late '90s, and the Officer Corps,
(Branch NOT material!), were reading at the 8th grade level WITH degrees
under their belt!  Their Advanced Course Training was making them get
tutors!

Our overall education system is the root cause of where we are at.

Teachers in our youngsters schools, such as my granddaughter's, aren't
even allowed to *suggest* that the very bright students read something
that IS at THEIR real level!

Getting off of my old wooden crate that used to contain cleansing materials.
