My vote for best literary masterpiece by an amateur goes to Clinton Desoto.
Just read the first few pages of "200 Meters and Down." DeSoto's name would
fit well with the likes of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ernest Hemingway, and F.
Scott Fitzgerald -- he was that good.
