It came from a ham who sold it on eBay to the company that handled the 
props.   I know this because he posted a note about it on one of the 
radio reflectors I subscribe to, and that was how I found out about 
"Falling Skies" (which I'm totally addicted to!).  I've been waiting for 
it to turn up in the plot as naturally the seller had no idea what they 
were going to use it for.

It was a Globe Scout 40A.  I can only speculate why it caught their 
fancy, but it would have been nice if they'd got the VFO, since that 
would have varied the frequency more effectively  than turning the plate 
tuning knob did ;-)   It was kinda hokey how they turned it into a 
"glowbug" but  I was impressed that it could load up a grounded flagpole ;-)

Maybe next year they'll pop for a better receiver, because the one they 
used in the first series had to be cranked.
