Geoff is totally on the money here I have done the same thing using  
pvc and water pressure to blow a hole under a driveway! It works well  
except for the occasional root, and hard red clay!!

As for sealing the pvc or whatever, regardless, its going to get  
moisture in it anyway due to condensation!
