[AMRadio] Usages of AM in the amateur context

I spend 2 hours last night on 3.880 AM talking with Ken KA5RHK in Arkansas 
and we paused many times hoping for others to join in with no takers.
Where is everybody.  We had a good connection from Central Texas to central 
Arkansas each running about 350 watts carrier.  Surely someone else could 
hear us.  Where are the evening AMers?  I listened on 160 also heard nobody. 
Also tried 40 and 20.  Nada!
