Mack, no one is mandating you have a Gmail account. It is just that all
three of us have had accounts there without problems. The problems here
have been that someone gained access to several members address book on
Yahoo (this is the latest) and you have seen posts about Canadian
Pharmacies among other things.
In the past AOL has blocked messages from AM Radio and AM Swap based on
SPAM, for which we have to walk those people through how to get their
messages. Quite frankly, I enjoy working with people and will continue
to do so. You don't see the bounce action notifications that we do, but
with your experience, you know how all that works.
The purpose of our postings were to alert those of you who have web
based email address books about the possibility of having your list of
addressees compromised and causing trouble for the list and other ISPs.
If they see a lot of activity from us, they will block all members and
we have trouble there.
You may choose any mail service you want, that is totally up to you. It
is our suggestion that you not maintain a list of addresses out in cyber
world that can be hacked which then causes our list server trouble. All
we are asking is that you maintain the integrity of your email
addresses, no matter where they are, and we simply stated that we have
all had good luck with Gmail.
Choose whoever you want but please update your account and be aware that
if we receive repeated bounces, we will disable it or the program will
should be miss it. Thanks for participation and choose who you wish.

I know the "bounce back" and "blocked" problem is a big one for
administrators of any email reflector but I don't believe for a second
that all subscribers on any of the ham radio email reflectors moving to
gmail will instantly solve for you.
In fact, if you guys deem it necessary for all to have a gmail account,
I'll just have to wave bye-bye.
