Rob,

First off, it's still radio, which we are all interested in. Second, it's amusing to see
what our "cousins" are doing, especially in the QRO department. Some of them are doing
rather interesting things. Many of these people are hams.

Third, today, about 70% or more of our ranks come from the CB. It cannot be ignored.
Consider the freebanders; they are radio amateurs in all but a licence. They do exactly
what we do - contests, DX, rag-chewing, et al, but without the benefit of authorization.
The fact is that about 40% or more ARE licensed hams, should give you pause. The ranks
of the American Technician Class are filled with Freebanders. Why do think that "10M
radios" are so popular? Why do you think are buying these? These radios are extremely
popular with Tech Class hams.

Don't be such an elitist!

I've been a ham for over 40 years, and started out as an SWL, then got my ticket. During
that time, all my friends were CB'ers. To suggst that I didn't talk to them on CB would
be wrong, although I did use my DX-100! ;-)

What's up with this discussion of CB? I was a CBer once for about 1
year in 1971 and as soon as I got my ham ticket that was the complete
end of my interest in CB. I don't get why hams are interested in it.
