Okay Jay thanks; I think the solution to all these problems is called
Ranger or DX100 hi hi.

I once saw PSK31 demo'ed at HRO in Sunnyvale Calif.  For some reason
typing to someone and reading his text doesn't wind my watch.  CW
would be more exciting, maybe because without the computer it seems
more like radio to me.
