I have been using the VHT brand off and on for over two decades and have not
had a problem with it being flat or dull.  Making the wrinkle coarse or fine
depends on how much paint you put on, heavy or thin. Force drying it with an
application heat will tend to make it dull, however if it drys at ambient
room temp it will come out very glossy, although it will take one to three
hours. (actually to glossy for me so I usually let it dry in my green house
and let the sun do the initial work)

At least VHT offers the color grey which comes in handy at times.

Anyway after using this rattle can stuff for quite a while I have found it
all depends on how you apply it and how you dry it.
