[AMRadio] Power Levels

Thanks for the info... My understanding of the BC610 and the 250 TH is that
at 2000 V. you should run about 250 mA. This would be 500 watts DC
input. If your final is operating more or less properly, you might get 350
watts or so output from the final - NOT including tank circuit losses. My
suspision is, IF you are running 2000 V at 250 mA, you MIGHT be getting 300
watts out to the feedline. You then need to deduct your feedline losses,
antenna tuner losses, etc...

Bottom line is, I guess - is that you shouldn't have to reduce the power
input to a BC610 at all to stay legal. The rig already IS legal, unless it
is being run very incorrectly and at a power level it is not designed to
handle, and if it is, you won't be able to modulate it correctly anyway, so
the point will be moot.

Measuring power output with great accuracy is almost impossible without
pretty sophisticated instruments. The whole FCC decision to measure output
- and PEP output at that - even harder to measure correctly - was pretty
foolish in the first place.

Oh well!
