I ran across an old globe (the geography instrument, not the transmitter) in a Texas antique
store. It was made in 1930s - 1940s based on some of the countries it depicted. Most
interesting were callsigns of shortwave stations and indeed many ham calls with little towers
printed in red. The calls were printed by the globe maker in original production. The legend
called these "shortwave stations." I surmise that in those days, the ham calls depicted were
of powerhouse AM hams who were regular enough to be fixtures on bands that were easily
tuned by the family radio. Does anyone have any recollection of these globes? I am sure
the calls could be found in an old callbook, but not in modern databases unless they are
somehow still active. I would appreciate any info. I may buy the globe.
