Hi Jeff,
Since you posted this publicly I feel slightly
more comfortable in commenting on it.
I'm saddened that it seems to be the story that
while the 'tiger' is away the monkeys are playing.
I would caution anyone on, in ANY way, comparing
what I'm hearing described, with Christianity at
even the farthest stretch of the imagination.
I think I can safely say that the actions being
taken (burning books, trashing radios, etc) would
NOT be the actions of a God fearing believer, esp
in light of the admonition <sp?) to honor your
elders and those that have gone before.
As for paganistic, self-deifying, cult worshippers,
I have no clue - but that's what sounds to be the case.
It's too late to save the library, but has anyone even
considered some kind of intervention to rescue the radios ?
With the weight of the word carried by the 'good son' off
fighting the war, perhaps via MARS channels - there could
be some light brought to bear, and access gained to accom-
plish this task. I'd imagine there is MUCH support within
the local law enforcement and judicial agencies on the side
of the 'fighting son'.
Perhaps a word to the wise within Johns' old SigCorp unit buds
might open some eyes and generate some 'assistance' of a kind.
Or even within the ranks of the current contingent, if as you
say John was a well known figure around there.

Sounds like someone's been playing around inside her knoggin!

And therefore is the reason I speak so militantly in
regards to protecting and preserving what was a very
meaningful part of his existance here.
JMHO re: the situation...
Take it for what it's worth.
