I have seen transformers with the CT internally grounded, and others with 
practically NO insulation between CT and ground.  Usually the ones with poor 
CT insulation have two balanced sections of winding, connected together at 
the CT.  If it is just one single continuous winding with a lead brought out 
  at the CT,  there should be no problem.  If the transformer is expendable, 
just hook up and try .  If it is something rare and valuable or 
irreplaceable, be careful.
