Gary,
I looked at the Kiwa web site, and the filters they have are for
solid state stuff.

Is the tube stuff different signal levels?
I would think the tube stuff has signal voltages much higher
than what you find in modern solid state stuff.

Can you ask your friend how he actually did the filter thing?

If the filters work, I can see where they could make some old receivers
quite usable!
If you can also find out if he used the LFH-4s (6kc) filter,
or one of the filter modules with the amps inside, that would
be helpful.

With a filter replacing the 1st IF transformer, my receiver
is going to be a very nice AM receiver indeed....

Thanks for the offer of the Wilcox receiver.
Sounds like you could get it working with a little work.

Stuff like that is getting valuable, just for the parts inside.
I think I will start looking for old junk at fests, just
for parts like coils, coil forms, shield cans, tuning caps,
dials, etc.

Last year I picked up an old homebrew VFO for $20.00 at a fest,
and it had a nice dial assembly, but it also had a bunch of the bigger
slug tuned ceramic coil forms.
I used one of them in my receiver as the ones that Antique Electronic
supply sells are small.

The dial alone would have gone for $50.00 on E bay, and
the coil forms would have been $20.00 each!

Thanks for the info and the offers,

Brett
