  Hi Don et al:

  I own both the MFJ and the original JPS units. Both have their good
  and bad points. The MFJ tends to overload on BC signals here, especially
  when the gain is turned up to null out weak noise. There were some
  mods made by some of the SWL guys who claim good improvment but I
  have not modified mine yet. The JPS has about a 6 db insertion loss
  so would loose real weak signals, which you might have on your
  beverage, but the JPS works fine here in the city. PS, be sure you
  dont leave the unit in the receive line on a big antenna while you
  transmit!! Could let the smoke out, just a caution.
