The R392/T195 is a mid 1950's design radio normally used in a 3/4 ton
truck, when the engine is off it is 24 volts, when the engine is running it
is 28 volts, just like any automobile except it's 24volts instead of todays
nominal 12 ( really 14.5 volts). The hybrid tubes are designed for 28 volts.
as are an entire series for car radios at 12 volts see 12AD6 in your tube
book, 12EK6 and dozens of others. A 12SA7 works fine at 12volts but the
hybrids are especially for 12 volts. PS I am a US ARMY certified fixer of
these things and have made thousands of qso's from them...NEXT? Mike K4XM
