Try wd40 first. This rarely fails.

Restored an Apache and used it a bit. No complaints- nice rig. I replaced
those slippery chrome knobs with black mil versions. Was nearly impossible
to change bands. Watch the octal tube sockets- rect & mods. The type used
in at least some Apaches will arc and do damage. Carefully assess what you
have there- adjacent chassis metal might be an issue too (its been a
while).

Never restored my Mohawk-- someday. Anyone know which 'high price'
receiver Heath copied for the Mohawk? I don't want to even try to
remember. The circuits are virtually identical I'm told. The commercial
ham gear mfrs cut Heathkit a lot of slack, apparently. And for that we
remain grateful.
