The DX-100 has room enough for a 4 section air variable (4x 400 pf) so you
can replace those pesky lil' micas in the loading section. Just like the
DX-100B had. Very slick indeed.

Looking at the Valiant, it seems to offer the same amount of available
space if you were to toss the COARSE switch or relocate it. But then you
realise that with one extra 6146 it will require considerably more C than
the DX-100 ever did. Valiant: a sad mis-design destined never to exceed
the sum of its parts.
