Gentlemen:

    I have been busy recapping and reworking the audio
on my Valiant.  I would like to thank everyone for their 
help so far on this project and my DX100.

    I have read all the comments about proper tuning and
how the transmitter should be tuned to full output for AM
operation. 
    
    Last Wednesday, I tuned the transmitter up on 75 in an
attempt to join the Wednesday evening festivities.  I could 
not get the plate current below 400 mils without reducing 
the drive below where it should be.  I experienced this tuning 
into a Cantenna and into my antenna.  I always have a tuner 
between the transmitter and the antenna so the SWR is 1:1.

    The manual says 330 mils is the max on AM.  I didn't try 
to load into the Cantenna on 160.  I will try that this evening 
and see what shakes out.

    I do not experience this on any of the bands above 75.

    Any suggestions ?  Has anyone else experienced similar 
difficulties ?
