Mac... This sounds similar to a problem I have, but only when using RIT. Is
yourTX and RX RIT turned off ?? I did manage to fix the full tilt audio problem
I had, and that was bad solder joints on that microscopic SMT push on connector
which attaches the pot board to the control board. It was a very delicate
operation, but successful after a couple of attempts. Applying flux first to
those tiny pads is about the most important part of the re-soldering process.
Another tip off was that the smaller digits in the lower right of the display
showing the RIT offset would flicker, and the CW tones and SSB signals were
quite distorted when it was acting up. You may be able to duplicate the RXer
problem by"wiggling" the control knob while listening and see if you hear the
distortion.
