I was checking out my DX-70 this weekend and had a few complaints on my
audio. Here is the story, This is a used rig that I just bought from the
family of a deceased fellow ham friend of mine who I have know for years. It
is approximately 2/3 years old and I had talked to my friend on it many many
times before he passed and never noticed these problems.
So thought I'd put my problem before the Alinco Reflector and see if anyone
might have run across the same problems with their DX-70's. Here's the run
down:

First of all the radio is being run using a Astron 35A power supply and
voltages were double checked both under and off load .....

The rig had been on the air over 30 minutes when I made my first contact and
before that contact all transmission were being received as normal ssb audio
(listening 10, 17, 20 and 40M)

On 20m running in 100watt position I called CQ a few times and after
contacting some one and exchanging a few comments all of a sudden his audio
became distorted. No freq change in my display, so I listened for a while
and it stayed distorted. He then told me my audio had started to distort
(note: I never told him he was distorted) and he wanted to know if I had
problems with rig. I said no and lowered the power on the radio (10 watts ?)
he said it was still distorted, we talked awhile and it stayed distorted
(never seemed to get worse). Sooo AFTER I START TRANSMITTING BOTH THE
RECEIVE AND THE TRANSMIT AUDIO BECOME DISTORTED. The same thing occurred on
40m band also.

It all appears to start once I start transmitting, oh the fan on the rig is
working and kicks on ok and all other settings are about normal positions
and I think the NB was also on and I did go in and turn the processor off
with no change.

Has any one had such a problem or know of any such problems like this being
reported in the past on this rig?.

Any help or info on this will really be appreciated. 73 Mac (sorry this is
so long wanted to make sure I covered it all)
