Amateur radio examination candidates,
Congress passed a funding bill and the President signed it into law
today, November 12, 2025, ending the longest Federal government
shutdown in history after 43 days.
The full scope of government activity will not resume overnight and
it may take several days for the government agencies to resume normal
operation.
For those of you who took amateur radio examination after October 1,
2025, the results of your exam will be forwarded by the Volunteer
Examiner Coordinator (VEC) to the Federal Communications Commission.
(FCC) for processing.
It may take some time for the FCC to resume normal operations and
begin issuing amateur radio call signs.
For those of you who upgraded to a higher license class, your new
privileges will be reflected in the FCC database.
For those of you who took a first time exam and had a FCC
Registration Number (FRN), you will receive an email from the FCC
inviting you to log on to the FCC web site and pay your $35.00 licensing fee.
For those of you who took the exam without a FRN, you need to log on
to the FCC web site and apply for a FRN and once you have a FRN, the
VEC can submit your application to the FCC for processing, and once
processed, you will receive an email from the FCC inviting you to log
on to the FCC web site and pay your $35.00 licensing fee.
I am riding shotgun on this and will contact you individually if
problems arise.
73,
Gary
