Thank-you, Sandra – we know you will enjoy the experience of being a band captain. I am sure Bob will get us all of the necessary details.

To those in the TO line, thank you so much for taking the time out of your
Sunday morning to visit the FD site with me. I really appreciate it and the
discussion held as we start looking towards Field Day. I apologize for the
delay in getting this out to you all. I have been trying to confirm a few
items and get us to a good starting point. I believe we are on a good path
as we start the planning process. As stated at the site, several items we
need to look into:

1. The pavilion and park does not include power. We need to ensure we
have enough generators to power us through the entire FD period. Logistics
Committee can work towards ensuring we have all supplies/support we will
need to operate.
2. There are no lights at the park. We will need to provide lights for
the pavilion and individual stations. The thought is that we get LED strip
lights or something similar for each station.
3. We need to look into the possibility of getting a port-a-potty
rented for the event. Need to also see what the city will require for us to
do so.
4. Looking at the layout, I have attached a beginning set up diagram on
what we may be able to do for FD. If we use this as a starting point, it
looks like we can operate the following stations:

Satellite

40M CW

40M Phone

20M Phone

10M Phone

15M Phone

80M/160M Phone

VHF/UHF/6M

5. The following individuals have agreed to serve as Band Captains:

Satellite: Joe Porcello (KT3I)

40M CW: Ian Keith (N8IK)

40M Phone: Erik Misavage (KI4BXU)

80M/160M:

20M: Ed Colona (K4ESC)

10M: Jason Palma (WA6MPR)

15M: Jay Orbin (KV3W)

Digital Modes: Used at each station as desired.

VHF/UHF/6M: Todd Taylor (KO4IJH)

6. We also need to get a few committees set up, including: Meal
Planning, Logistics, Set-up/Tear Down, Safety/Security. If you are
interested in serving as a committee chair or on a specific committee,
please let me know. Thank you.

7. We will need a few people to be our night security personnel while
we have others operating. Does anyone want to volunteer to be a member of
the night security team?

8. We also need a safety officer for the event. Would anyone like to
volunteer for that position?

9. Jan (KB2LRX) has volunteered to be our PIO and has already begun
working on several items to get the word out and involve some of our local
media. Thank you. We would like to invite local media, city leadership,
local civic organizations, and youth organizations (CAP, Boy/Girl Scouts,
etc.) as well. Love to get some local youth interested in Amateur Radio and
provide them an opportunity to get on the air during the event.

10. Shelters: If you have any canopies, tents, tarps or other items we can
use to make shelters/protect equipment and the pavilion, please let us know.
(Logistics committee will be managing our inventory from within the club).

11. We have not registered on ARRL as a Field Day club yet. I will work
with our Club Trustee (KA4GFY) and our President (KI4D) to make that happen.
Once we have determined what our final station number will be, we will work
to get us registered and on their list.

12. Logging: To ensure we are standardized throughout the entire event, we
will be using N3FJP logging software for all participants. Joe (KT3I) is
working on several projects to help us manage this process. He is build a
website/server system to help us manage the logging software and allow us to
catch dupes when we change out operators.

13. Joe (Kt3I) is also going to set up a couple of nodes to allow us to
use internet via the AREDN network similar to last year. He is also setting
up a local Wifi for our use. In addition, he is also creating a digital
dashboard that will be fed by our logs to show where we are standing in real
time. He is asking if Alex (KO4ZMC) is willing to assist in this endeavor.

14. Unfortunately, I will be in Florida during our next meeting. I will
continue to develop our plan. In the mean time, please let me know if there
are other areas you would like to assist, any suggestions you may have, and
any lessons you have learned in the past that you believe would be helpful
to another successful Field Day.

Thank you for your time. I appreciate everyone's efforts thus far.

73,

Bob KO4ZIK
